● Worked on Handcrew as well as type 6 engine. Also frequently created fire lines. Also used prescribed fires to burn potential fire fuel under controlled
conditions. Prime physical condition; able to carry loads of over 45 lbs. for long periods of time. Main duties included:
● Felling trees
● conducting backfire and burnout operations
● Operating water and chemical hoses and pumps
● Recording/analyzing fire weather and topographical data
● Constructing landing spots for fire suppression helicopters
● Related duties and skills include: wildfire suppression, mop up, and prescribed burn programs; including holding line and ignition, using a drip
torch.

● Project Helping Hands ('PHH') is a nonsectarian nonprofit organization that sends teams of volunteers on missions into developing nations to provide
basic medical care and health education. PHH offers short term assignments for volunteers to conduct medical and dental clinics that provide free, expert
care and health education in areas where it is limited or difficult to obtain.
● My role was assisting medical personnel in free clinics for the local citizens
in Haiti:
● Intake the area outside of the clinic where people line up waiting to get in.
● Assessment Station - The nurse and translator will see patients at these stations, getting a history, performing a brief physical assessment and trying
to determine how to best help the individual. Teaching occurred at this
station as well as developing a plan of care.
● Treatment area - Minor procedures and in-depth examinations were conducted. Everything from IV rehydration to pelvic exams to wound care
occurred in this area.
● Pharmacy - staffed by a nurse, student and non-medical personnel, nurses came to this area to pick up their needed supplies. From here providers
discuss cases, signed off on treatments, or were pulled into assessment or
treatment areas, as appropriate.
● Teaching: Taught about first aid, body mechanics and water purification.
Taught children about cleanliness, tooth care and avoiding infection. Taught about STDs and birth control.
